Bullet Screen – Make Your WordPress Tooltips Come Alive!

Hover over this demo to see the Bullets Screen in action!

Since WordPress Tooltips Pro 5.9.2 back in 2018 (today we are at v35.9.8 in 2025), we’ve been building the Bullet Screen effect for WordPress Tooltip users—and the feedback has been amazing! Users love it, and we’re excited to show you why.

What is a Bullet Screen?

A Bullet Screen (also called “Danmaku” in some regions like Korea or China) is a fun and interactive way to display scrolling messages, slogans, quotes, news titles, or quick tips across the screen—right on top of your content.

For example, popular global sites like viki.com use this to create lively, engaging experiences for their readers.

✨ Bullet Screen transforms your WordPress posts—your content becomes interactive, eye-catching, and memorable!

Next-Level Bullet Screens – GIFs, Images, and More

We recently enhanced WordPress Bullet Screen for WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus Plugin. Now you can add:

GIFs

SVGs

PNGs / JPEGs

Text messages

Imagine this: You’re writing a story about a historical hero. When a user hovers over the hero’s name:

A tooltip pops up with the hero’s story.

A portrait GIF slowly floats upward.

Then, a prayer appears.

Flowers bloom.

Finally, the hero’s hometown landscape scrolls by.

❤️ Your readers get an immersive, unforgettable experience.

How to Set Up Bullet Screen in WordPress

Login to your WordPress dashboard

Click Tooltips → Bullet Screen

You’ll see the Bullet Screen settings panel, similar to this (Tooltips Pro Plus v17.2.8):

Bullets Running Direction option in Bullet Screen Settings

Bullets Running Direction option in Bullet Screen Settings

Key Settings You Can Customize:

Font Size – Make your bullets bold or subtle

Speed – Control how fast your bullets move (e.g., 2500)

Font Color – Pick any color via the WordPress color picker

Opacity – Set bullet transparency (e.g., 0.8)

Custom CSS Class – Add your own effects

Trigger Events – Show bullets on:

Mouse Over, Mouse Enter, Click, Double Click, Mouse Move, etc.

Direction – Bullets can move: up, down, left, or right

✅ Don’t forget to click “Save Changes” once you finish!

Now your Bullet Screen is ready to use across your WordPress site: posts, menus, comments, tags, titles, WooCommerce shop, product descriptions, sidebars, bbPress forums, BuddyPress activity, and more.

Adding Bullet Screen to a Tooltip

Login to WordPress dashboard

Go to Tooltips → Edit a Tooltip

In the Tooltip Editor, find the “Bullet Screen Words” metabox (right-hand side)

You can enter either text or image or video codes. For example:

<img src=’https://tooltips.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/bear-134_128.gif’ />

This will make a cute bear GIF float upward when users hover the tooltip term.

Tip: Separate multiple items with commas:

<img src=’https://tooltips.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/bear-134_128.gif’ />,
<img src=’https://tooltips.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/cat-133_128.gif’ />,
Happy New Year!

Each hover randomly displays a bullet from your list!

Creative Uses for Bullet Screen

E-commerce: Highlight product features, show discount codes, or add a pop-up offer.

Blogs & Articles: Enhance storytelling with text, images, or GIFs (image tooltip demo).

Interactive Libraries: Make online reading fun and visually rich.

You can also use Bullet Screen in:

Glossary (Glossary Demo)

bbPress / BuddyPress tooltips

WooCommerce product pages (WooCommerce Tooltips, Your Shortcut to More)

…and anywhere your tooltips appear!

See It in Action

Hover over our top menu bar → “Try Demo” → “Bullet Screen”. Watch the bear GIF float, then a red heart appears—this is the magic of Bullet Screen.

No need to show Bullet Screen everywhere—just delete it from the metabox if you don’t want it.

We’re just getting started!

Your feedback helps us improve and add even more effects. Make your WordPress site dynamic, fun, and unforgettable with Bullet Screen today!

Have a wonderful day with your family and readers.

WordPress Tooltips 5.9.2 Released, Support Bullet Screens Effect

Hi Dears,

I just released wordpress tooltips pro 5.9.2, in this version, we start to support bullet screen effect, what is bullet screen? In some countries, for example Korean, China… and so on, a few site start to allows show text messages fly across the screen like bullets, we call it bullet screen, a example site which USA / EU / CN users like is viki.com.

How to use it? When you add / edit tooltips in tooltips standard editor at http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=tooltips, you will find a new post metabox panel “Bullet screen of this tooltip”, you can enter text messages in here, if you want enter multi text messages lists, just separated them by comma, then
when users view tooltips terms, when their mouse out the tooltips term, we will show your text messages with a bullet screen effect, If there are multi text messages lists related with current tooltips term, we will show display a random text from your text messages lists. If you do not want to show bullet screen effect, just delete it from the post metabox panel, this is just start stage, if you have any feedback, we are happy to improve it. 🙂

Also we fixed theme conflicts on glossary page and fixed theme conflicts on tooltip list page

Thanks, have a blessings day with your family. 🙂

How to disable wordpress tooltip for a specific page

Hi dear wordpress tooltip plugin users, I hope this message find you are doing well and have happy days with your family 🙂  We received a wordpress tooltip user’s question, and I would be happy to provide an example of how to use the “disable_to_this_page” feature:

Thank you for reaching out! We’re delighted to assist you. When you add or edit a WordPress post or page using the standard editor, the URL typically looks like https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/post-new.php.

In the right-hand section of the WordPress editor, you will find a “disable tooltip for this page” metabox. If you check the “disable tooltips for the page” option within this metabox, tooltips will not be displayed automatically in that specific post, it looks like this:

Disable specific tooltips

Disable specific tooltips

Let me explain further with an example. Suppose you have a tooltip term “WordPress” and its corresponding content is “We all love WordPress”. Normally, if your posts contain the word “WordPress,” our tooltips plugin will detect it and add tooltip effects like dotted lines or double lines. When users hover over the word “WordPress,” a tooltip popup window will be displayed. However, if you have disabled tooltips for this page, even if your post contains the word “WordPress,” no tooltip effects will be added.

Consequently, when users hover over the word “WordPress,” the tooltip content will not appear automatically. Please note that although tooltips will not work automatically on this specific page, you can still manually add tooltips using the tooltip shortcode “[tooltips]“.

I hope this example helps you understand how to use the “disable_to_this_page” feature.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Have a wonderful day with your family!

Best regards,
