How to Add Tooltip Effect to a Term in WordPress Post, and DO not show the Term in Glossary Page?

Hi Dear WordPress Tooltip Glossary Users,
Hope this message find you are doing well and have happy days with your family! 🙂
We get a ticket from an amazing user of wordpress tooltip plugin, he said he wanted to add the effect of tooltips to the words in some wordpress posts, but he didn’t want the tooltip terms to show up in the wordpress glossary list.
In the current time, we have two methods can realize this feature, I am happy to reply in here publicly 🙂

How to Add Tooltip Effect to a Term in WordPress Post, and DO not show the Term in Glossary Page?

Method 1:

1: Login your wordpress site as wordpress admin

2: Edit your wordpress glossary page

3: Change your glossary shortcode to just display glossary terms from specified glossary categories, please use glossary shortcode like this:

[glossary catid='1']:  only show glossary terms which in the wordpress glossary category id = 1,

Or if you hope show glossary terms from multiple glossary categories, use wordpress glossary shortcode like this:

[glossary catid='5,10,12'] to show glossary terms of specified glossary categories in wordpress tooltip category, by category id ‘5’, ’10’, ’12’

4: It is hard to remember glossary category id?  Easy, you can use category name, do it like this:

use [glossary catname='classmate,family,school'] to display glossary terms of specified categories ‘classmate’ ,’ family’ , ‘school’ in glossary page, by category name ‘classmate’ , ‘family’, ‘school’

By this way, you can assign the tooltip terms that you don’t want to display in the glossary to a special tooltip category, and then filter them out with cat id or cat name.

Method 2:

Use wordpress synonyms tooltip :

1: Login your wordpress site

2: Click WordPress “Tooltips” menu item

3: Click “Add New” sub menu item, which under the “Tooltip” menu item,

4: Then you will open WordPress Tooltip WYSIWYG Editor

5: In the right hand of the wordpress tooltip editor, you will find the “Synonms of this tooltip” metabox, it looks like this:

6:In the “Synonms of this tooltip” metabox, you can enter all synonyms of this glossary term in one time, for example, for wordpress tooltip glossary term “this”, you can input “This”, “tHis”, “THIS”… and so on in wordpress tooltip “Synonms of this tooltip” metabox, please separated by “|”

In front end,wordpress tooltips glossary plugin will scan your wordpress posts, and add tooltip effect to these synonyms tooltip  automatically. But in the wordpress glossary page, these synonyms tooltip will not displayed in glossary directory 🙂

We are working hard to add an important feature for tooltips, which is wanted by many users, but it is a hard work, still need many days hard work, so we decide release another new version, you will see it soon 🙂

WordPress Tooltips Free Version 7.2.5 Released

We got a tooltip user’s feature request on wordpress support forum, the wordpress tooltip user asked us, is it possible to display the tooltip effect  in the wordpress. category archive title 🙂
Our wordpress tooltip plugin support wordpress title tooltip, wordpress tag tooltip, wordpress image tooltip, wordpress video tooltip, wordpress audio tooltip, wordpress comment tooltip, wordpress svn tooltip, contact form tooltip,  woocommerce tooltip, wordpress button tooltip, wordpress pricing table tooltip… and so on, or let’s say, tooltips for anything.   🙂
But this is the first time we heard users want to add tooltips on the title of wordpress category archive 🙂
Now the answer is yet, we have developed a new wordpress tooltips free plugin 7.2.5 to support wordperss archive tooltips, if you upgrade to the wordpress tooltips free 7.2.5, in the tooltips global settings panel — it looks like this:

At the bottom of the wordpress tooltip global settings panel, you will find “Tooltips for Category Title” Option, you can enable / disable tooltips for category title in here 🙂

WordPress Tooltip Plugin 13.9.4, Support for Customizing the Display Time of Tooltip Pop-ups

We got a suggestion from a wordpress tooltip user, he said that the wordpress tooltip plugin works very well, there are many customization options, the wordpress tooltip plugin can easily adapt to various needs, customize all the details of the tooltip popup window, such as color, border, execution time …. Congratulations on providing a successful wordpress tooltip plugin to your users!

But there is one detail you may not have noticed, and that is the length of time the tooltip popup window stays open. So far it seems that if the option ‘Stay Open a While’ is selected, your tooltip popup window will remain on the screen and will close automatically after about a second when the mouse leaves the tooltip popup window. That’s good design, but if you add an option to allow the wordpress admin to customize the dwell time of the tooltip popup, it would be a great convenience for some users.

For example, for some elderly users, or when I am traveling, the car can be very bumpy at times, so sometimes my tooltip pop-up window may easily lose focus. If the tooltip popup window can stay on the screen for a longer time, I just need to click on the popup window… This is a little hard to explain, I just think that if you allow the wordpress tooltip admin to customize the length of time the tooltip popup window stays on the screen, it will be very convenient for some special use!

Okay, fine, we understand, we have re-developed our wordpress tooltip plugin to support this function, if you upgrade wordpress tooltip 13.9.4, you will find we have added a new option “Time of the Option ‘Stay Open a While‘” in the tooltip style settings panel, it looks like this:

You can customize the length of time the tooltip popup window stays on the screen 🙂

WordPress Tooltip Plugin 13.9.0, Better Synonyms Tooltips

We are happy to report you, we just released WordPress Tooltip Plugin 13.9.0 🙂
As a user of the tooltip plugin, you may know that the wordpress tooltip supports the Synonyms Tooltips. 🙂
WordPress Synonyms Tooltips is very easy to use, when you editor tooltip in wordpress tooltip WYSIWYG Editor, you will find the “Synonyms of this tooltip” metabox in the right hand of the tooltip maker, what you need is just input synonyms of current tooltip term in “Synonyms of this tooltip” metabox, if you have multiple synonyms, separated by “|”.

The Synonyms tooltip metabox looks like this:

Once you set up Synonyms tooltips in here, when the user’s mouse moves over these synonyms, wordpress tooltip plugin will pop up a tooltip window with the tooltip term content, by this way, you can save time and write less repetitive tooltip terms / tooltip content. The feature of synonyms tooltip is useful for other applications such as building wordpress dictionaries. 🙂

We’ve been getting feedback from users about this feature, these feedback has broadened our understanding of this feature,  we developed wordpress tooltip glossary plugin 13.9.0 to build a better synonyms tooltip functions for wordpress tooltip usres 🙂

This is great suggestion, we have developed a new version — wordpress tooltip plugin 13.8.8 to support show tooltip in the category archive title, if you upgraded to the new wordpress tooltip plugin, in the tooltips optional menu item, you will find a new option: show tooltips in category archive title, once you enabled this option, when user mouse hover the category archive title, if there are tooltip terms, a pop-up box will show your tooltip content for the tooltips terms in the archive title 🙂

WordPress Tooltip Glossary 13.8.6 Released, Tooltips Users can Change Glossary Term Content Background Color

Last time when we released WordPress Tooltip Glossary plugin version 13.8.4, we said in wordpress glossary plugin 13.8.4, we support custom background color of glossary terms title, and we said we are developing a new wordpress tooltip plugin, and we will release it soon, sorry because there are a few important events, It’s only now that we can free our hands to finish the job. 🙂

Just like we reported, an amazing user told us:

On the glossary page I cannot find a setting for the box border colour or the background colour for each box. Is it possible to customize them?

We have realized feature request of setting the tooltip box border color, and we have realized feature of change the background color of wordpress glossary terms title, in this wordpress tooltip plugin version 13.8.6. we have added a new option to allow wordpress tooltip editors to custom the glossary term content background color 🙂

If you upgrade to wordpress glossary plugin 13.8.6, you will find in “Glossary Settings” panel, we have added a new option “Background Color of Glossary Terms Content”, it looks like this:

Via the option “Background Color of Glossary Terms Content”, you can pick up specific color from the wordpress tooltip color picker, which in the right hand of the option “Background Color of Glossary Terms Content”,  once you change the background color of glossary term content, and clicked save changes blue submit button,   in front end of glossary page, for example,  in wordpress glossary page, you will find the background color of glossary item content has been changed as the color that you pick up in “Background Color of Glossary Terms Title” option 🙂

WordPress Tooltip Plugin Support Tooltips for WordPress Comment

A user of the wordpress tooltip plugin submitted a development request to us, he said that his wordpress site has a lot of comments, whenever he replies to user comments, he finds that he needs to enter a lot of text information, while explaining some complex issues, he wants to add to these wordpress comments with tooltip effect, so he can add video tooltip, audio tooltip… to the comment through wordpress comment tooltip, by this way, when replying to a user’s comment, he can provide the user with richer information for the user, then, when the user watches his reply, he can understand his thoughts at a glance. 🙂

This is a great tooltip feature request! Our developer lost his weekend and sleep to developed the tooltips for comment for the user asap, now since wordpress tooltip plugin 13.8.0, wordpress tooltip plugin support comment tooltip!

How to Use WordPress Comment Tooltip?

1: If you didn’t installed wordpress tooltip multisite license plugin, please login your account at wordpress glossary tooltip plugin site, if you have installed wordpress tooltip plugin, please jump to step #10 directly 🙂

2: Download wordpress tooltip plugin via “My account” page

3: Login wordpress admin area

4: Click “Plugins” menu item

5: Deactivated old tooltips version

6: Delete the old wordpress tooltip plugin

7: In “Plugins” menu item, click add new at the top of the plugins panel

8: Upload the tooltips plugin zip file which you downloaded from wordpress glossary plugin site

9: Activate latest version of wordpress tooltip glossary plugin

10: Click “Tooltips” menu item

11: Click “Addons” sub menu item, you will open “Tooltips Addon Settings” panel

12: You will find  at the bottom of the Tooltips Addon Settings panel,  there are the option: “Enable / Disable Tooltips for WordPress Comment?”, if looks like this:

13: If you want to add tooltip effect to wordpress comments, please select “Yes, support comment tooltips”, else please select “No, don’t support comment tooltips”

14: Click “Save Changes” blue button

15: In front end, wordpress tooltip plugin will scan content of your comments, and add tooltip effect on tooltip terms automatically 🙂

16: When user hover tooltip terms in wordpress comments, tooltip window will pop up, you can insert video / audio / map / QR codes / links / woocommerce products in tooltip pop up window

It is easy, what you need to do is just enable wordpress comment tooltip addon, and write your tooltips terms and content in tooltips editor in backend, if you do not know how to create tooltips, please check our video tutorial:

WordPress Tooltip Glossary Plugin 13.7.8 Released, Support Customize Color of Glossary List Border, This is the 312th version of WordPress Tooltip Glossary Plugin

Based on user’s feature request, we have released WordPress Glossary Plugin 13.7.8 today, and this is the 312th version of WordPress Tooltip Glossary Plugin 🙂

We get an amazing wordpress tooltip plugin user’s ticket, in his ticket, he told us:

“On the glossary page I cannot find a setting for the box border colour or the background colour for each box. Is it possible to customise them?”

We was think what he want is change wordpress tooltip terms box border color, we replied him:

if you are wanting change the tooltip color, please:

1 login your wordpress admin area
2 click tooltips menu item in admin
3 click tooltips style sub menu
4 in tooltip box customize settings panel, you will find “tooltip box color” option, just click to change the colour

But the user’s replied us:

I am referring to the boxes on the Glossary page – please see attached screen shot – they are grey with grey borders and the text is light grey. I would like to change the colour of the background and border colour.

On our wordpress glossary plugin, we have no this function, that’s why we developed wordpress glossay 13.7.8, now if you want to change the color of glossary list border, you can just:

1: Login your wordpress admin area

2: Click “Tooltips” Menu item

3: Click “Glossary Settings” sub menu item

4: You will open Glossary Settings panel, and in “Glossary Customize Settings” Panel, you will find the “Glossary List Border Color” at the bottom of the “Glossary Customize Settings” Panel, it looks like this:

You will find you can just select the color from the glossary list border color picker 🙂

Please don’t forget to click the  blue “Save Changes” button 🙂
