Enhancing Directory Tables with Zebra Striping for Better Aesthetics and Usability — WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus 33.9.8

Adding zebra stripes to directory table for a cleaner, more attractive layout, supported by wordpress tooltips pro plus 33.9.8

Hi, dear WordPress Tooltip plugin users, I hope this message brings a smile to your face and finds you in the company of your dear ones, sharing wonderful moments filled with joy. We have released wordpress tooltips pro + 33.9.8 to improve the directory table design, based on an amazing suggestion from an amazing wordpress tooltip user , he mentioned that he created a very long directory, and while browsing through the extensive list, it is hard to identify and track different items, he hope we could offer a solution to reduce eye strain. 🙂

Our wordpress tooltip plugin developer reviewed his directory, and yes, it is indeed very long, we believe using zebra striping (alternating background colors) in the directory can significantly improve both user experience (UX) and readability on the wordpress pages. This is the reason:

Using zebra striping (alternating background colors) in designs, especially in lists or tables such as directories, can significantly improve both user experience (UX) and readability on wordpress and wordpress pages. Here are the key benefits:

1. Improved Readability

Alternating background colors create clear visual distinction between each row, making it easier for users to follow information. For example, when browsing a long list, alternating color blocks help users quickly identify and track different items, reducing confusion and preventing them from misreading row data.

Visual Separation: By adding different background colors between rows (e.g., alternating light gray and white), users can quickly distinguish between each row, reducing eye strain.
Row Alignment: In data tables with multiple columns, alternating background colors help users clearly recognize which data point belongs to which row, especially in long lists.

2. Enhanced User Navigation

In directories, lists, or tables, users often need to scan content quickly. Zebra striping helps make each row stand out, allowing users to find information faster and more accurately, especially in data-heavy pages.

Quick Location: For example, when users are looking at a list of files, contacts, or products, alternating background colors guide them to the next row, preventing them from losing their place while scanning.
Reduced Errors: With better row distinction, users are less likely to misselect or misread when scanning across long lists, which is especially important in complex multi-column tables.
3. Enhanced Visual Hierarchy

Good visual hierarchy is crucial in web design, particularly when displaying complex content. Zebra striping adds visual layers by alternating colors, making the page appear more organized and clearer.

Emphasizing Structure: This design helps users naturally see “sections” of the list, and the alternating background colors make the page appear less monotonous, thereby enhancing the user’s understanding of the information’s organization.
Reducing Visual Clutter: Compared to using the same background color for all rows, zebra striping breaks up the design visually, making the page more engaging and modern.

4. Improved Scannability

For long lists or pages with a lot of data, zebra striping improves scannability. Users typically scan rather than read every word, and alternating background colors help them scan more efficiently.

Quick Browsing: The alternating colors allow users to more easily scan through rows, and in pages with a lot of information, this helps users quickly locate the parts that interest them without reading every line.
Visual Guide: The alternating color contrast helps guide the user’s eyes across the rows, making it easier to follow the information without feeling overwhelmed or confused.
5. Improved Aesthetics

While the primary purpose of zebra striping is to enhance readability, it also adds a unique visual effect that can make a webpage or directory look more aesthetically pleasing and modern. The right color pairing can improve the overall design of the page.

Design Style: Zebra striping is often seen as a clean, simple, and easy-to-read design style. It helps make the webpage look more professional and polished.
Contrast and Harmony: By using complementary or soft contrasting colors, zebra striping adds visual appeal without making the design feel too busy or cluttered.

6. Increased Interactivity

In some interactive directories or tables, zebra striping not only serves an aesthetic purpose but can also enhance the interactivity of the page, especially when combined with hover or click effects.

Dynamic Effects: Many websites apply zebra striping in combination with hover effects (e.g., changing background color when the mouse hovers over a row via WordPress tooltipps plugin) . This feature enhances interactivity, helping users easily identify where they are and improving the overall user experience.

Conclusion:

We believe using zebra striping (alternating background colors) in wordpress tooltips glossary and directory greatly enhances readability, user navigation, and aesthetic appeal. It is particularly beneficial for pages with complex data or long lists, as it makes information presentation clearer and easier to follow. Additionally, zebra striping enhances overall interactivity, improving the user experience and visual effect across different devices and screen sizes.

Currently, we have enhanced the UX in the anything directory section, we are working hard to add this effect on all wordpress tooltip glossary and directories , you will see it soon 🙂

Enhancing Glossary: New Option to Remove Alphabetical Navigation for a Minimalist Experience, WordPress Tooltips 10.4.3

Streamlining Glossary for a Minimalist Experience, New Option to Remove Alphabetical Navigation Bar in WordPress Tooltips Glossary Page

Hi, dear WordPress Tooltip plugin users, I hope this message finds you are doing well and having wonderful days with your family. We received a feature request from an amazing WordPress tooltips free user:

Title:

Streamlining My Glossary for a Minimalist Experience

Message:

Hey there!

I hope you’re doing well! I’ve been thinking about my glossary, and I’d love to simplify it a bit. My vocabulary is pretty small, and honestly, I’m not keen on navigating it alphabetically. As a minimalist at heart, I really appreciate a clean, uncluttered look.

What I’m aiming for is a layout that keeps the focus on specific vocabulary items without any distractions. Would it be possible to remove the alphabetical navigation bar? The simpler, the better!

Thanks a bunch for considering this!

Best,

Our wordpress tooltips plugin developer has reviewed this ticket, in fact, we implemented this feature approximately 4 yeas ago in wordpress tooltips pro plus version, we are pleased to announce that we will also add this functionality to the free version of wordpress tooltips 🙂

Improving Glossary Navigation: Option to Streamline with Removal of Alphabetical Bar

 1. Log in to WordPress as an admin.
 2. Upgrade to WordPress Tooltips Free version 10.4.3 or higher.
 3. In the WordPress dashboard, click on the “Tooltips” menu item.
 4. Click on the “Glossary Settings” submenu item. This will open the “Glossary Settings” panel. Below is a screenshot of our previous version of WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus, which looks like this:
 5. As you can see, there is an option labeled “Remove Navigation Bar in Glossary Page” in the “Glossary Settings” panel. If you wish to remove the glossary navigation bar, please select “Yes.” The alphabetical navigation bar will then be removed from the glossary page on the front end.

Please note that this option will also affect the UI of all wordpress directory shortcodes in wordpress tooltips plugin

Thank you for the great suggestion! We have added a license for WordPress FAQ Pro to your account. If you would like to upgrade to WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus, we would be happy to offer you a 20% discount.

Efficiently load wordpress tooltip effect only on specific CSS classes in the front-end, wordpress tooltips pro plus plugin 33.8.8 released

Hi, dear users of the WordPress Tooltip plugin! I hope this message finds you are doing well and you surrounded by your loved ones, enjoying delightful moments together. We received a ticket from an amazing WordPress tooltip user, who mentioned a problema when inserting inside a table from an Already Existing Tooltips Term in Tooltip Short Code:

problema whn inserting inside a table from an Already Existing Tooltips Term in Tooltip Short Code

I have explain the problem I found at the first table on this test page.

Our wordpress tooltip plugin support replied:

Hi,

Hope you are doing well and having happy weekend with your family 🙂

Thanks for the message 🙂

We are very happy to help you 🙂

Because we have many plugin versions with different functions, Would you please tell us:
1 the plugin version you are using
2 a little more details to tell us how to find the problem in the URL, for example, the Tooltips Term? the content of the tooltip shortcode?

I will assign our developer to resolve the problem for you 🙂

Thanks, have a blessed day with your family 🙂

Best Regards,
Wordpress Tooltip Support

The user replied:

The problem is when I insert the code in this way inside a table [ tooltip_by_id tooltip_id=’13663′ ] . Instead to show the text, is shows the shortcode. When I put the code outside the table it works fine. And even inside the table, when It detects the “sentence” automatically it works.

The table plugin is wpDataTables.

Than you for your review

Then our wordpress tooltip developer checked the test page, and we replied:

Hi,

Thanks for the details 🙂

Our developer have checked your page, and we found you have created a few lovely image tooltips, that’s great 🙂

Yes, in the table, we found that when hovering over tooltip terms, tooltips work well. You have created some pretty tooltips – good work! However, we noticed that the tooltips shortcode does not work in the table. The reason for this is:

wpDataTables is a great plugin. If you want shortcodes from other plugins to work within the wpDataTables plugin, wpDataTables needs to use the function do_shortcode() in their code 🙂

Sir, I’m wonder why you do not to insert the tooltip term in the table directly? I guess it will works for you? Why you need insert shortcode manually?

Thanks, have a blessed day with your family 🙂

Best Regards,
Wordpress Tooltips Plugin Support

Then the amazing user replied:

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.

If I insert the term in the table directly, It works. Bue then at all other places where I have the same term, the tooltip also works. And I want the tooltip works only in the table. That is way I think I must insert the short code manually. Am I correct?

What to you mean with “wpDataTables need use the function do_shortcode() in their code 🙂 ? I there other way to insert he shortcode to it works?

Thank you

Note: This is an important reason

Our wordpress tooltip support replied:

Hi,

Thanks for the reply 🙂

Okay, I understand the requirement now, thank you 🙂

Sir, this is the first time we heard this kind of issue, I am assign our developer to find a solution for you 🙂

About the function do_shortcode(), it is because all content in the table is generated by the great table plugin wpDataTables, when author insert a shortcode in the content of the table, the great table plugin
need call the function do_shortcode() in their code — this will support shortcodes from other plugins, in our side, we have no right to change their great code 🙂

We will reply you soon once we found a solution 🙂

Thanks, have a blessed day with your family 🙂

Wordpress Tooltips Support

So this is the reason why we developed wordpress tooltips pro plus 33.8.8 for wordpress tooltip users

How to efficiently load WordPress tooltip effect only on specific CSS classes in the front-end?

1: Let’s create a wordpress tooltip term, it looks like this:

create wordpress tooltip term in editor

2: Now, simply create a wordpress post, it looks like this:

Only Load tooltip effect on the specifield CSS class

As you can see, when you edit a wordpress post, on the right hand of the editor, you will find the tooltips metabox: “Only load tooltip effect on the specified CSS class?

Here, we just enter a CSS class name, for example:

enableit

Then, let’s assign the CSS class name “enableit” to the tooltip term that you hope load tooltip effect on:

Only load WordPress Tooltips effect on this specified CSS class: enableit

3: In front-end, it looks like this:

only load the tooltip effect on the specified CSS class in front-end

As you can see, we have inserted a few tooltip terms ‘wordpress’ in the post, but only the tooltip term that has the CSS class name ‘enableit’ has the tooltip effect on it 🙂

Conclusion:

An amazing wordpress tooltip user submitted a great feature request:

If I insert the term in the table directly, It works. Bue then at all other places where I have the same term, the tooltip also works. And I want the tooltip works only in the table. That is way I think I must insert the short code manually. Am I correct?

We developed wordpress tooltips pro plus 33.8.8 to resolve the issue for the user by this way:

When you create a wordpress post, you can choose to load tooltip effect only on the specified CSS class in this post, and you can assign this CSS class name in the tooltip term where you want to load the tooltip effect

THANKS:

Thank you so much for the great feature request! We have added a WordPress FAQ PRO plugin in your account, it is a powerful WordPress FAQ plugin, easy to use, select pretty FAQ templates from pre-designed template, custom FAQ style in back-end via a few clicks, Support use OpenAI ChatGPT to generate high-quality content for WordPress F.A.Q and wordpress post automatically, support WooCommerce Product FAQ, Responsive FAQ, Multiple FAQ Templates, FAQs grouped by category, specified number of FAQ items for each FAQ… and more and more, you can find how to use it at:

Supporting Any Database with Unlimited Fields, Customizable Captions, and Improved UI of Directory — WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus 33.7.8 Released

Hi, wonderful users of the WordPress Tooltip plugin! I hope this message greets you with joy and finds you surrounded by your loved ones, enjoying delightful moments together. 🙂 We received a ticket from an amazing WordPress tooltip user, who mentioned that he hopes our WordPress tooltip plugin will support displaying directory listings from a third-party great directory plugin within the WordPress tooltip popup box 🙂

Our WordPress tooltip plugin has developed a version, WordPress Tooltips Pro 33.5.8, which allows users to create a glossary from any WordPress table for third-party data, fulfilling the feature request from the user. We also reported what we will realize in the next version of the WordPress tooltip plugin ‘2’: In the new version, users can insert an unlimited number of table fields in the shortcode, and ” we are developing a new version of wordpress tooltips plugin to allow glossary users add a caption at the top of the glossary”.

Today we are very happy to report to you, we just released wordpress tooltips pro plus 33.7.8 , changes in the new version:

Directory can extract data from any table in the database with unlimited field support:

1: Users can gather data from various tables and consolidate all relevant information into a single glossary. This ensures that they have access to a comprehensive dataset that includes terminology and definitions from multiple sources. It is helpful for wordpress users to create directory / listings quickly and easyly:

Time-saving and efficiency: Instead of manually inputting data into a glossary, users can directly import relevant information from various databases. This saves time and effort spent on manually searching for, copying, and pasting information. For example,

Real-time updates: If the glossary is connected to live databases, users can benefit from real-time updates as new terms or definitions are added or modified in the source databases. This ensures that the glossary is always up-to-date with the latest information. For example, it is now possible to connect to a stock analysis table to get stock quotes in real time and automatically display them to stock users 🙂

For example, you can create directory shortcode like this:

[ directory_from_database table=”stock” fields=”stock_name,stock_code,open, close, volumn” fieldname=”name,code,open, close, volumn” ]

2: Customizable title at the top of the listing

Shortcode looks like this:

[ directory_from_database table=”stock” fields=”stock_name,stock_code,open, close, volumn” fieldname=”name,code,open, close, volumn” caption = ” Real Time Quote” ]

Adding a customizable title at the top of the directory in a plugin offers several benefits for directory users:

Enhanced User Experience
A clear, relevant, and customized title helps users immediately understand the directory’s purpose, making navigation intuitive.

Improved Clarity and Context
Users can quickly grasp the content or function of the directory without needing to explore deeply, saving time.

Personalized Branding
A customizable title allows directory owners to align the interface with their branding, fostering trust and recognition among users.

Flexibility for Different Use Cases
The title can be tailored to different contexts, ensuring the directory remains versatile and relevant in varying scenarios.

SEO Benefits
A keyword-optimized title can enhance search engine visibility, making it easier for users to find the directory online.

Enhanced Accessibility
A descriptive title improves accessibility for users who rely on assistive technologies, as it provides a clear heading for screen readers.

Professional Appearance
A well-thought-out title at the top of the directory lends a polished and professional look, creating a positive impression.

3: Option to customize the header name for each field in the directory.

For example, you can change the shortcode from:

[ directory_from_database table=”stock” fields=”stock_name,stock_code,open, close, volumn” fieldname=”name,code,open, close, volumn” caption = ” Real Time Quote” ]

to:

[ directory_from_database table=”stock” fields=”stock_name,stock_code,open, close, volumn” fieldname=”Stock Name,Stock Symbol,Open, Close, Trading Volume” caption = ” Real Time Quote” ]

The option to customize the header name for each field in a directory plugin offers several benefits, particularly in terms of flexibility, usability, and clarity. Here’s a breakdown of why this feature is beneficial:
1. Improved Clarity and Relevance

Customized headers allow you to use field names that are relevant to the context or audience. For example:
Instead of a generic “Phone Number,” you might use “Emergency Contact” or “Customer Support.”
This ensures that the directory is self-explanatory and intuitive, reducing confusion for users.

2. Localization and Multilingual Support

You can translate header names into different languages, tailoring the directory for global or localized audiences.
E.g., “Address” can become “Dirección” (Spanish) or “Adresse” (French), depending on your audience.

3. Branding and Aesthetic Alignment

Align field headers with your organization’s tone or branding guidelines.
Example: For a tech-savvy company, “Start Date” might be labeled as “Launch Date.”
Makes the directory feel professional and tailored to your brand’s voice.

4. Enhanced Data Categorization

Sometimes, default field names may not adequately describe the data. Customizing headers enables you to:
Highlight field-specific nuances (e.g., “Main Office Phone” instead of “Phone”).
This improves how data is interpreted and accessed by users.

5. Optimized User Experience (UX)

Customized headers simplify navigation, especially in large directories with many fields. Descriptive labels:
Reduce the cognitive load on users.
Help users quickly locate the information they need.

6. Adaptability for Various Use Cases

Directories often serve different purposes. By customizing headers:
A directory for employees can have headers like “Department” and “Position.”
A directory for vendors can use “Services Offered” and “Contract Duration.”
This adaptability ensures the directory meets the specific requirements of each scenario.

7. Seamless Integration with Other Systems

If the directory is used alongside other tools, customized headers can align with the naming conventions of those tools.
E.g., Matching CRM field names like “Client ID” instead of “User ID.”

In summary, customizing header names makes the directory more user-centric, contextually accurate, and flexible—key factors in ensuring the directory’s effectiveness for its intended audience and use case.

4: Enhanced catalog user interface with responsive catalog design.

The directory looks like this:

The ideals which have lighted my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth. The trite subjects of human efforts, possessions, outward success, luxury have always seemed to me contemptible.
Do something wonderful, people may imitate it.
To follow, without halt, one aim: There is the secret of success.
Reflect on your present blessings, of which every man has many; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.
True happiness means forging a strong spirit that is undefeated, no matter how trying our circumstances.
Love is the flower you've got to let grow.
We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do.
In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can.
The best way to pay for a lovely moment is to enjoy it.
There is no duty we so underrate as the duty of being happy. By being happy we sow anonymous benefits upon the world.

If you have any more question, please don’t hesitate to contact us, we are very happy to help you 🙂

Create Glossary from Any WordPress Table for Third-Party Data, Supported by wordpress tooltips pro plus 33.5.8

Easily Create Glossary for Third-Party Plugin Data in WordPress Tooltips Plugin

Hello, dear WordPress Tooltip Plugin users! I hope this message finds you well and enjoying a wonderful day with your family. Recently, we received a support ticket from a valued user who wanted to insert a third-party listing plugin shortcode into the tooltip popup window but faced some difficulties. Upon investigating, we found that the plugin uses a unique method to load content from the backend. Rather than utilizing WordPress custom post types, the author created multiple dedicated tables, which complicates integration with other plugins. After putting in considerable effort, we are excited to announce that we’ve addressed this issue for our WordPress Tooltips users. You can now directly retrieve content from third-party plugins using their tables with ease. Then we released WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus 33.4.8 , enabling tooltip users to generate directories from any WordPress table for external data. Then our wordpress tooltips plugin developer said this requirement will help glossary users to create wordpress glossary for third-party plugin data too. Allowing a WordPress tooltip user to create a glossary from any external table (outside of WordPress) can provide several significant benefits to glossary users:

Expanded Data Sources: Users can pull in terms and definitions from various external databases or resources, allowing for a richer and more comprehensive glossary that goes beyond the limitations of WordPress content.

Diverse Content Integration: By leveraging external tables, users can integrate content from other platforms or systems, ensuring that the glossary remains relevant and includes terminology used across multiple contexts or industries.

Better Contextualization: External data can offer broader contexts for terms, providing users with additional definitions, examples, or usage cases that are not confined to their WordPress site, thus enhancing understanding.

Dynamic Updates: If the external data source is regularly updated, the glossary can automatically reflect these changes, ensuring that users always have access to the most current information without manual intervention.

Customization and Personalization: Users can tailor the glossary to their specific needs by selecting which external tables to include, allowing for a more personalized experience based on their audience’s interests or requirements.

Time and Resource Efficiency: Manually creating glossary entries can be tedious. Automatically generating entries from external sources can save time and reduce the workload for users, allowing them to focus on other important tasks.

Interoperability: Supporting the creation of glossary entries from external tables can enable better data interoperability across various platforms, making it easier to consolidate information for users who utilize multiple systems.

Enhanced User Experience: Providing a more extensive and well-rounded glossary can improve the overall user experience on the site, making it easier for visitors to find relevant information quickly.

SEO Benefits: A more comprehensive glossary can lead to improved SEO performance by including terms and phrases that are more widely searched for in external data, potentially driving more organic traffic to the site.
By allowing glossary creation from external tables, users gain a powerful tool that enhances their website’s functionality, interactivity, and content richness.

… much more , so we developed version 33.5.8 of WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus for wordpress tooltip users to help WordPress tooltip users to create a glossary from any external table 🙂

How to Create Glossary for Data from Any WordPress Table?

1: Please click “download wordpress tooltip” menu item to download wordpress tooltip pro plus plugin which version >= 33.5.8

2. Generate a WordPress post and utilize the shortcode [ glossary_via_tables ] to directly build a glossary from a third table. It should appear as follows:

[ glossary_via_tables table=’stock’ fields=’stock_name,stock_price’ ]

In this case, the table in question is ‘stock,’ which is present in your database. You can choose the specific fields you want to show in the directory. For example, I only require the fields ‘quote_title’ and ‘quote_content.’ The WordPress Tooltips plugin will automatically pull data from the ‘stock’ table to generate the glossary.

What we doing now:

1: we are developing a new version of wordpress tooltips plugin to allow glossary users add a caption at the top of the glossary

2: in the new version, users can insert unlimited table fields in the shortcode

3: we are re-design the UI with a new pretty style with more functionality

A glossary looks like this:

Tooltip isn’t working in posts

Message:
Hi. I’m using free tooltip plugin and I have configured one to test but it doesn’t work. In this link you can see the test page

Thank you.

Our WordPress Tooltips plugin developer checked his site and found that his WordPress site has an advanced caching plugin. Advanced caching plugins often include features that minify or combine JavaScript files to improve loading times. The demo and solution for “a wordpress tooltip to be displayed for a word that has a superscript number at the end of it”

colour1

A few days before,we received a ticket in which an amazing tooltip user:

Subject:

tooltips with superscripts

Message:
Is it possible (currently, or with an enhancement) for a tooltip to be displayed for a word that has a superscript number at the end of it?

Then wordpress tooltip plugun support write a document “Is it possible for a wordpress tooltip to be displayed for a word that has a superscript number at the end of it?” for an amazing wordpress tooltip user,

Would you please try:
1: login wordpress as admin
2: click tooltips menu item in wordpress dashboard
3: create a new tooltip
3: enter colour1 as tooltip title, enter “test” as tooltip content
4: in your post, add colour1 (1 is a superscript) in your wordpress post, when mouse hover “colour1”, you will find tooltip popup up and works well

Please note, in some specific theme, maybe this will not work, because in their code, do not support HTML in post tile…

and the amazing tooltip user replied to us:

Thanks for your email below, it is very helpful. Yes, I can create tooltips “red” and “green”. I tried to create a new tooltip with the title colour < sup > 1 < / sup > and it is simple recorded as “colour1” i.e the superscripts is not applied. However, I am not an admin for the wordpress site. I am just a member of the team. Can the supoerscripts functionality for tooltips be made available to any users of the wordpress site please?

Our WordPress Tooltip Plugin developer conducted numerous tests, and we finally discovered that the issue lies within some WordPress themes, as their code will replace…

colour1

as

colour1

If you’are encountering the issue where entering “colour1” int he Gutenberg editor results in it being converted to “colour1”, it’s usually due to the wordpress’s security measures to prevent XSS attacks. Here are some ways to avoid this:

1: Use an HTML BLOCK: In Gutenberg, you can insert a Custom HEML Block. This will allow you to enter HTML tags without them being escaped .

2: Plugins: Consider using plugins that handle custom code, such as “Code Snippets” or “Insert Headers and Footers”. These plugins allow you to insert HTML code directly into your wordpress pages.

3: Edit functions.php: You might be able to adjust how special characters are handled by adding code to your theme’s functions.php file, but this requires some knowledge of wordpress development 🙂

Sir, we are using an editor account to create this demo, as you can see, the superscripts works well, as a member of the wordpress site, you can create superscripts, and they will works properly, would you please follow our guide to check it again? We are happy to continue helping you resolve the problem 🙂
