How to suspend the wordpress tooltip for a wordpress page?

In wordpress tooltips plugin, we have a few methods to disable tooltips in a wordpress page:

1:  in wordpress editor, you can disable wordpress tooltip for the current wordpress page by “disable tooltip for this page” metabox.

When you use the standard WordPress editor to add or edit a post or page, for example Gutenberg, you will notice a “Disable Tooltip for This Page” option in the metabox on the right side of the editor. The tooltips settings metabox looks like this:

If you check this option, tooltips will not be displayed on this particular page.

Here’s how it works: Normally, our tooltips plugin automatically adds tooltip effects to specific words within your wordpress posts. For example, if you have the word “WordPress” and the corresponding tooltip content “We all love WordPress,” whenever users hover over the word “WordPress,” a tooltip popup window will appear. However, if you disable tooltips for this page, even if the word “WordPress” is present in your post, we will not add any tooltip effects to it. Consequently, when users hover over the word “WordPress,” the tooltip content will not automatically appear. Please note that even though tooltips won’t work automatically on this page, you can still manually add tooltips using the tooltip shortcode “Proper Shortcode Usage is:

[tooltips keyword='wordpress' content = 'hello, wp']
or
[tooltips content = 'hello, wp']wordpress[/tooltips]
.”

2: You have the option to disable tooltips in WordPress posts in bulk by using post IDs.

At 2019-12-04, we released WordPress Tooltip Glossary Plugin 10.6.6, Support One Click to Bulk Disable Tooltips in Post by Post ids

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to bulk disable tooltips in WordPress posts using post IDs:

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin area and Navigate to the “Tooltips” menu item. It looks like this:

  3. In the “Tooltips Optional Settings” panel, locate the “Bulk disable tooltips in post by post ID” option box. It will look like this: Bulk disable tooltips in post by post idin the tooltip option “Bulk disable tooltips in post by post ID“,  Simply enter the post IDs in the input box, separated by commas. For example: 3, 22, 58, 126, 583. By doing this, the WordPress tooltip plugin will not add tooltip effects to those specific posts on the front end.
  4. Please note that this option is not applicable to tooltips generated by the [tooltips] shortcode.

3:Wordpress tooltip users can disable wordpress tooltips for selected CSS Classes and IDS

At 2020-02-10, based on wordpress tooltip users’ fantastic suggestion, we released WordPress Tooltip Glossary Plugin 11.7.8, to support disable tooltips for Selected CSS Classes and IDS

You’ll notice a option in the “Tooltips Optional Settings” panel called “Disable tooltips for selected classes and IDs.” Here, you can enter the CSS classes and IDs (separated by commas) for which you want to disable tooltips. Once applied, the tooltip effects will be removed from the specified classes and IDs on the front end. Here’s what it looks like:

We did not get the answer yet, but our wordpress tooltip  developer read this ticket and he said it is a good advice. By default,  wordpress tooltips plugin will add a little bit of metabox in the bottom right of the gutenberg editor, include “disable all tooltips in this post”, “disable specific tooltip”, “enable advance tooltips shortcode”…etc.

In general, wordpress edtior can close this metabox by clicking on the small triangle of the metabox “tooltip settings for this page”, just one click, but we understand, a few WordPress editor may want to add an option in the WordPress tooltip plugin optional settings panel to enable / disable the “tooltips settings” metabox on the right side of the Gutenberg editor, based on following reasons:

  1. Clean interface: Disabling the “wordpress tooltips settings” metabox can reduce clutter and make the editor interface cleaner and easier to use.
  2. Workflow efficiency: For editors who are familiar with the operations, the “tooltips settings” metabox may no longer be necessary. By disabling it, editors can focus more on content creation and improve workflow efficiency.
  3. Customization needs: Editors may have specific customization requirements, wanting to integrate other specific features or plugins into the editor and need more space to display them. There are many plugin added many metabox in wordpress editor, by  closing the “wordpress tooltips settings” metabox can free up space to accommodate their customization needs. In conclusion, the editor’s request to disable the “wordpress tooltips settings” metabox is driven by considerations such as a clean interface, workflow efficiency, or customization needs.

Our tooltip developer lost the sleep to realize this feature asap we can, now if you upgrade to wordpress tooltips pro plus 26.7.8, in wordpress optional panel, you will find the new option: “enable / disable tooltips settings metabox in Gutenberg editor”, if you disable the option, then all tooltips metabox will be removed in the bottom right of Gutenberg editor, if you need add wordpress tooltips metabox in Gutenberg editor, just bypass this option, by default, wordpress tooltips plugin will disable tooltips metabox in the right bottom Gutenberg editor 🙂

Hallo, ich benutze den Shortcode HTML Tooltips (die sind ERSTAUNLICH und genau das, was ich brauchte), aber es gab ein kleines Problem, das ich gerne behoben hätte. Bei der ersten Option geht es im Grunde darum, dass beim Klicken auf den Link innerhalb des Tooltips die Option besteht, dass er in einem neuen Fenster geöffnet wird. Man schwebt also über ein Wort und es erscheint der Tooltip, dann schwebt man über den Link im Tooltip und beim Klicken öffnet er den Link in einem neuen Fenster/neuer Seite.
Bei der zweiten Frage lasst mich das nochmal umschreiben.
Ich benötige keine Live-Vorschau der URL. Es geht nur um den ersten Teil dessen, was du bestätigt hast: Den Keyword selbst als Link machen. So kann man einen Tooltip zu Text hinzufügen, der zu einer anderen Stelle verlinkt, im Gegensatz zu einfachem Text.
Stellt euch vor, ich würde auf dieser Hilfeforum-Seite einen Tooltip erstellen. Wenn ihr die oberen Links seht, wo steht “Home › Foren › WordPress Tooltip Pro + Support”, stellt euch vor, ich wollte diese Links in Tooltips umwandeln. Also wenn ich auf den Link klicke, funktioniert er, aber wenn ich darüber schwebe, erscheint ein Tooltip, in dem ich möglicherweise einen weiteren Link oder etwas ähnliches habe.

Hi Dear Users of WordPress Tooltip plugin,  I hope this message find you are doing well and having happy days with your family!   We just released wordpress tooltips pro plus 26.6.8, wordpress tooltips pro 19.1.6, wordpress tooltips free 9.3.1 to enhance the robustness of the wordpress tooltip plugins 🙂

A few days before, we released wordpress tooltips free 9.2.9 to fix a bug related to special a character, it stems from a deeply hidden and severe bug: when  tooltip keyword have a php regular expression metacharacters ‘/’, it will break the php regular expression and cannot return content, so in wordpress tooltips free 9.2.9, we fixed the issue and we tested all 21 php regular expression metacharacters to ensure this kind of problem will not happen again. 🙂

How can I open clicked links in the WordPress tooltip shortcode in a new tab or window?

Hello, I use the shortcode html tooltips (which are AMAZING and just what I needed) but there was one small problem I am looking to have fixed. I know that for the glossary tooltips, there is an option to open clicked links in the tooltip in a new tab/window. This options is not available within the shortcode tooltips. I also tried to use the ” target=”_blank” ” html code after a link in the html code of the tooltip, but that breaks it. For the first option, basically, when clicking on the link inside the tooltip, I am seeking the option to have it open in a new window when clicked. So one hovers over a word, it pops up the tooltip, then I hover over the link inside the tooltip, and upon clicking, it opens the link in a new window/page.

For the second question, allow me to redescribe.

I do not need a live preview of the url. It is just the first part of what you confirmed: Making the keyword itself a link. So you can add a tooltip to text that links elsewhere versus plain text.

So let’s say I was making a tooltip on this help forum page. If you see the top links where it says “Home › Forums › WordPress Tooltip Pro + Support”, imagine I wanted to make those links into tooltips. So when I click the link it works, but if I hover over it, it pops up a tooltip that I may have a link or something inside as well.

I hope that makes sense?

On that first question, on the backend for the link, I am looking for it to do the “rel=noreferrer noopener” function. (It opens in a new window/page/tab and does not consider it referral traffic.)

Option 2: In Gutenberg, locate the “Options” icon at the top-right corner of the editor. Within the “Editor” panel, select “Code editor”. This will enable you to write shortcodes using the code mode and incorporate attributes like “target=’_blank'” or “rel=noreferrer noopener” …etc. 🙂

By combining option 1 and option 2, you can directly create a hyperlink using the “keyword=” text in Gutenberg 🙂

About “I also tried to use the ” target=”_blank” ” html code after a link in the html code of the tooltip, but that breaks it”

please note: a few user said their shortcode cannot works in Gutenberg, that is because they use the error format like this:

This will not work, because Gutenberg will replace the ‘ in shortocode to “ format automatically like this:

User have no way to stop Gutenberg replace the ‘ to “, even you update the format manually, once Gutenburg saved the post, Gutenberg will replace the ‘ to “ again — automatically, so editor must use the correct format like this:

The rule is: In the shortcode, after the tag content, please use ‘, and after the tag img src, use “

Also we recommend to use tooltip_by_id shortcode, by this way, you can insert images, links, in tooltips standard WYSWYG editor, and then use tooltip_by_id shortcode to reference the content of the tooltip term into any wordpress post or page.

You can use tooltip_by_id to create any comple shortcode easily:

1: Click “Tooltips” menu item, in “All Tooltips” Panel, search the existed tooltip term which you want to reference.

2: Click Editor button of the tooltip term, it looks like this:

4: In “Edit Tooltip” panel, you will find the tooltip id in browser URL bar, it looks like this:

How to enable bread crumbs in wordpress tooltips popup window?

1: Please login your account in tooltips.org by click the wordpress tooltip download  menu item in the top bar of wordpress tooltip site,  then just  download latest  version of wordpress tooltip pro plus plugin which version >= 26.5.8

2: Upload the wordpress tooltip plugin (zip file) via plugins panel in your wordpress back-end,  if you are new user of wordpress tooltip, please check our  video of how to install wordpress tooltip at:  WordPress Tooltips Video Tutorial 3: How to upload and activate wordpress tooltips pro plugin

3: In your WordPress admin, please click on the “Tooltips” menu item, It looks like this:

4: Then click the “Optional settings” sub-menu item. This will open the “Optional settings” panel

5: In “Optional settings” panel,  please navigate to the bottom of the “Optional settings” panel, you will find new option “enable bread crumbs in tooltips popup window”, please just select “Yes, enable bread crumbs in tooltips popup window” and click the blue “Update Now” button, then in the front end, when users hover the tooltip keyword in wordpress post, they will find there are bread crumbs at the head of tooltip content in the tooltip popup.

6: If you do not want to display bread crumbs in tooltips popup window, please just select “NO, disable bread crumbs in tooltips popup window” 🙂
