Support for more member directory functions, wordpress tooltips free plugin 9.6.1 released

Hi, greetings to all the devoted users of the WordPress Tooltip plugin! I hope this message finds each and every one of you in high spirits, enjoying your happy days to the fullest with your dear family.     A few days before, we released wordpress tooltips free plugin 9.5.9 to support filtering users by including only those whose IDs are included in the “include” parameter list. Today, we added a new function of members directory in wordpress tooltips plugin, to support for more member directory functions from amazing user: A WordPress user is using wordpress tooltips plugin with the member directory feature. They requested the addition of a parameter to exclude certain WordPress user IDs from being displayed in the member directory. We support this feature in this version in tooltips 9.6.1.

This is a great feature request, possible reasons for the requested functionality,  A members directory admin may have different reasons for wanting to exclude specific user IDs from the member directory. Here are some possible explanations:

  1. Privacy Protection: Some users might not want their profiles to be visible in the member directory due to security or privacy concerns.
  2. Internal Management: In certain cases, specific users may belong to internal teams or special organizations and prefer not to be listed in the member directory. This can help limit the directory to display only certain roles or specific users.
  3. Special Membership Privileges: Occasionally, certain users may have unique privileges or roles and would like to distinguish themselves by not being listed among regular users in the member directory. In summary, the requested functionality provides users with more flexibility and control to exclude specific user IDs from the member directory as per their needs. This can be done to ensure privacy protection, internal management, or to provide special membership privileges.

In the left column of the directory, we display the user name, in the right column of the member directory, we display user information and details of the user information, the user information is come from the biographical info field in wordpress user profile panel, it looks like this:

How to exclude specific user from wordpress member directrory?

1: login wordpress tooltip site download wordpress tooltips pro plus 21.9.8 or tooltips pro 16.8.6.

2: upload ans activate wordpress tooltip plugin in your wordpress site

3: click tooltips menu in wordpress admin area and click directory settings panel, it looks like this:

This is directory panel in wordpress tooltip pro plus version 19.2.8, some features is not existed in tooltips pro version and more features is not included in wordpress tooltip free plugin, but member directory addon have same functions.

In here you can bulk enter user ids to exclude specific users from wordpress member directory in one time.

Hi, Dear   WordPress Tooltip plugin users, hope this message find you are doing well and having happy weekend with your family 🙂 A wordpress tooltip user reported a bug in wordpress member directory addon, he said he found a php warning, although it will not displayed to users in front-end and all things works well, but our developer fixed the debug asap we can 🙂

The reason of we add the wordpress members directory addon in wordpress tooltip plugin is because an users said she using our wordpress member directory plugin since 2015 and she added a few codes in the plugin, she worry about when upgrade the member directory plugin, all changes will lost. Hey, Dear  users of  WordPress Tooltip plugin, hope this message find you are doing well and having happy days with your family 🙂  Maybe you know, in recent days, we released a few version to help wordpress tooltip users build member-directory, and then we received a few tickets from some wordpress tooltip user, in which they asked us how to use the function of wordpress member directory 🙂

In general, once we released a new wordpress tooltip version, we will write a document for the new version and introduce all changes and how to use the new functions in detail. We was planed released wordpress tooltips free plugin 8.2.7 at Monday, but our developer check our code again and then followed wordpress security standard to use nonce functions family to enhance all input $_POST, although all these input $_POST is generated by admin, so non-admin user or guest cannot add any bad data in all input $_POST, but our developer still use nonce function to enhance member directory functions, and we will do this work for all input $_POST in next version 🙂

How to Create a Member Directory Via WordPress Tooltip?

Hi, Dear users of  WordPress Tooltip , hope this message find you are doing well and having happy days with your family 🙂 In last weeks, we got a lot of request / ticket to ask us can we use wordpress glossary function to build a directory, or a few more tickets tell us they want to use our directory plugin, for example:

Greetings! Back in 2015, our site installed a WP Member Directory for me (that I can see originated from WordPress ToolTips.). The customized it to my settings and interconnected with my Infusionsoft/Keap account (where I house contact details and tags that affect presentation in the Directory).

Yes, many years before, we do developed a member directory plugin via our original wordpress glossary solution, based on a few user’s request, our plugin are driven by user needs,  we  update it to version 1.3.1, then we did not get more user’s feedback, so we stopped upgrade it, we are happy to know there are users need it, and there are new feature request, we’d like upgrade for the great user. 🙂 Since 2015, our glossary plugin have been upgraded rapidly, so if we move these functions to member directory plugin, that may need many days, so we think about add member directory function to wordpress glossary section.

And then we got a few more user’s request about build directory based on wordpress tooltip and glossary functionality, for example:

“I was wondering if I can embed a directory of the glossary (One category) on a page, too.

For example, I made a category with a name of (Body parts names) I want to embed this specific category, only, to a specific page then to create another category called (Everyday use words)

then embed it to my lesson page related to this category…”

And a few more ticket related with use wordpress glossary functions to build directory in their tooltip site, it seems there are a lot of similar needs in user side , our developer decide add directory functions in wordpress tooltips too, just like we added glossary functions in wordpress tooltip plugin, based on many user’s request, and then many user said they love our glossary function and some of them said it is the best glossary functions they have ever used, we believe we can build good directory functions for wordpress tootltip users too, this version, we just add member directory function first, and then we will add more and more directory functions for wordpress tooltip admins, for example, business directory…etc 🙂

Once user change their information in wordpress user profile, wordpress tooltip will display the new user information in member directory too 🙂

In next version, we will add more options to help wordpress tooltip admin decide which user fields should be displayed in member directory 🙂

7: You can easily to custom the style from the wordpress glossary settings panel, the glossary settings panel looks like this:

As you can see, you can customize member-directory font background, border color, navigation, search form…etc in here, we believe we can re-use the same settings with glossary section, if we need dedicated settings for member-directory, we will build new panel for member-directory in the future 🙂

8: A faster method to change style for member directory is use our built-in template, for example, one click to change from orange template to  gray template, then it looks like this:

Conclusion:

WordPress tooltip plugin support build member directory via “member_directory” shortcode, wordpress tooltip admin can decide which user roles will displayed in wordpress member directory, and wordpress tooltip admin can customize memebr directory via glossary settings panel to select a pretty build-in member directory template, or customize a unique style for each elements of the directory. We have updated wordpress tooltip site, change list at below:
1: We released a new wordpress plugin: wordpress members directory plugin, with Member Directory plugin, you can list all wordpress users on your wordpress site just via a member directory shortcode,  also you can opt to exclude or include members in the member directory list based on user roles,you can use this member directory plugin to create company address book, school portfolio… and so on, with 3 minutes 🙂
WordPress member directory plugin is based on a wordpress tooltip user’s suggestion, wordpress tooltip users can download this plugin free of charge 🙂
2: We get another wordpress tooltip plugin user’s report, he said every time when he download wordpress tooltip plugin, he think the tooltip product page is a little messed up, he think the text-align center is not good for a woocommerce shop page, based on his report, we have re-design the wordpress tooltip plugins product page , thanks for your great report and suggestion 🙂
3: We have re-wrote description of our wordpress tooltip plugin, you can check new wordpress tooltip description at download wordpress tooltip plugin single domain license
4: We have re-wrote  plugin description of WordPress Pay With a Link Plugin,
5: We have added more woocommerce tooltip demos at WooCommerce Tooltips, and we rewrite the description of woocommerce tooltips demo for help tooltip users understand woocommerce tooltip better 🙂
