How to display WordPress tooltip effect on tooltip keywords in wordpress term pages?

Hi Dear WordPress Tooltip Glossary Users, Hope this message find you are doing well and having happy weekend with your family! We found a comment in one of our wordpress tooltip document page, the user asked:

I wanted to make a tooltip with an image and a link to another page, but even a simple one – as in your video material – does not work. Maybe something is wrong in the settings? Please help.

We wrote to the user and asked the tooltip version and URL that have the issue, after checked the URL, we did not found any image or tooltip term, it is a little strange, then we report to the user and help get a little more description, then the user give us another URL, we in which it seems the user want to add the tooltip effect on the tooltip keywords “kolejny” in another wordpress tooltip term page “awer”, we were confused by the question, but we guess may be more users have similar question about enable tooltip effects in wordpress tooltip / glossary term pages, so we write this detailed document to help users who have similar questions 🙂

How to display WordPress tooltip effect on tooltip keywords in wordpress term pages?

1: Login your wordpress site as wordpress admin

2: in wordpress dashboard, please click “Tooltips” menu item

3: then please click “Glossary Settings” sub menu item, you will open WordPress tooltip “Glossary Settings” panel

4: In “Glossary Settings” panel, You will find the option: “Disable Tooltips in Glossary Page”, it looks like this:

5: please  set up “Disable Tooltips in Glossary Page” option to enable or disable wordpress Tooltips effect in wordpress glossary page, for this user, what you need to do is select “Enable tooltips  in glossary pages”

6: please click “Save Changes” blue button at the bottom of the wordpress “Glossary Settings” panel

7: In front end, if you open glossary pages, for example if you open wordpress tooltip term page “awer”，you will find we have add the tooltip underline on the tooltip keywords “kolejny”, if you mouse hover the tooltip term “kolejny”, you will find tooltip window popup

8: please note, you need create a tooltip term for the keyword “kolejny”, if you did not created a tooltip term “kolejny”, then nothing will happen, when you create the tooltip term “kolejny”, you can insert image / text for the tooltip term “kolejny”, and these content will displayed in the tooltip popup window 🙂

Hi, Dear  WordPress tooltip  plugin users, hope this message find you are doing well and having happy weekend with your family   An amazing wordpress tooltip user submitted a ticket, in which he asked:

I have a problem that lists are shown in the glossary, but are not shown in the tooltips popups.

We understand the user want to display an unordered list (ul) with list items (li) in a tooltip popup, we understand displaying a lot of information directly on a page can clutter the layout and overwhelm users. By using a tooltip to show a list, the user can present information in a more compact form, keeping the main content area clean and organized. 🙂

We did a test on our wordpress tooltip site, and we found it works well, we can display unordered list (ul) with list items (li) intooltip popups, we tested all options, then we found this is due to a setup issue, we think more users have similar question, we’d like write a detailed document for wordpress tooltip plugin users 🙂

How to display lists in wordpress tooltip popups?

1: login your wordpress site as admin

2: in wordpress dashboard, click tooltips menu item, then click optional settings sub-menu item

3: you will open wordpress tooltip optional settings panel, it looks like this:

4: As you can see, in wordpress tooltip optional settings panel, there are option ” Tooltip Excerpt or Full Content”, if you select option “Use Full Content in Pop Up Box”, then wordpress tooltip plugin will display an unordered list (ul) with list items (li) in tooltip popups, if you select “Use Tooltip Excerpt in Pop Up Box”, then wordpress tooltip plugin will call wordpress excerpt to display excerpt in wordpress tooltip popup, in this case, unordered list (ul) with list items (li)  will be ignored by wordpress excerpt function 🙂

How to display lists in wordpress glossary?

Hi, Dear users of  WordPress tooltip  plugin, hope this message find you are doing well and having happy day with your family We got a ticket from an amazing wordpress tooltip user, in which he told us, some times, he found letter count number still displayed in  navigation bar, although he have set up the option Hide count number of glossary items as “yes”. The wordpress glossary settings panel looks like this:

Hi, Dear WordPress tooltip users , hope this message find you are doing well and having happy day with your family

We got another plugin user submitted a ticket: “Hello! I am working on a website which needs to accessible (WCAG2.0). For example I want to access the tooltips with tab key. (esaenitaly :focus instead of :hover) Is this possible for me to change with free version? ”, when we try to support WCAG2.0(Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0),  we found it is not all HTML tag support tabindex attribute, only a small percentage of HTML TAGs support the TABINDEX attribute: input, a link, button, select, iframe, video….etc, so if we want to support access tooltips with tab key, we need use these HTML tag. Finally we remember we developed a tooltips pro plus version which support link tooltip term to tooltip glossary page automatically in a few months, based on another amazing user’s feature request: “automatically link the wordpress tooltip keyword inside a wordpress post to the wordperss glossary item page”. So we decide move this function from tooltips pro plus version to wordpress tooltip pro and free version for users, and we enhanced functions of this feature in this  version,  then in the next step,  we can support access tooltip terms via tab key in tooltips in wordpress post. 🙂

How to automatically link the wordpress tooltip keyword inside a wordpress post to the wordperss glossary item page?

1:  download last version of wordpress tooltip plugin from wordpress plugin lib or via  wordpress tooltip glossary plugin

2: Install latest version of wordpress tooltips plugin in your wordpress site,  new user please check our  video of how to install wordpress tooltip at:  WordPress Tooltips Video Tutorial 3: How to upload and activate wordpress tooltips pro plugin

3: In wordperss dashboard click “Tooltip” menu , then click “optional settings” sub menu item, you will open “optional settings panel”, it looks like this:

4: The screenshot is come from tt pro plus 19.8.8 , but the option “link tooltip terms to tooltip page automatically?” section  is the same.   if you select “Yes” in option “link tooltip terms to tooltip page automatically?”, then in front-end, all tooltip keyword in wordpress post will be linked to wordpress glossary item page automatically.

If you select “No”, then nothing will be changed

How to remove the numbers from the wordpress tooltip alphabet NAV?

Hi, Dear users of wordpress tooltip plugin , hope this message find you are doing well and having happy weekend with your family 🙂 We got a ticket from an amazing wordpress tooltip free user, in which he asked us a question:

How do we get rid of or clean up the alphabetical navigation at the top of the glossary. The plugin is version 8.8.5. we want to remove the numbers of remove the entire alphabet NAV here

We did a check of his page, we found he did not enabled “Hide count number of glossary items” option in glossary settings, At 2021-04-15, in wordpress tooltips pro plugin 14.4.4 we realized this feature  “to Display / Hide Count Numbers for Glossary Letters in Glossary Navigation” because another amazing user’s feature request:

And then at 2022-06-14 we moved this function to wordpress tooltips plugin free version because another user want this function on his site. How to remove the numbers from the wordpress tooltip alphabet NAV?

1 please login your wordpress site as wordpress admin

2 then in wordpress dashboard, please click “tooltips” menu

3 now please click glossary settings sub-menu item

4 you will open wordpress glossary settings panel, this is a screenshot of pro version which created by wordpress tooltips pro 14.4.4, but wordpress tooltip free verion and wordpress tooltip pro version have the same option  “enable / disable number of letters in the glossary navigation ”, it looks like this:

5: As you can see, there are an option “Hide count number of glossary items” at the bottom of the wordpress glossary setting panel, if you select the option “Yes”,  then in the front end, we will hide count number of letters in glossary  navigation bar , if you select “No” (this is default value), then in font end , we will display count number on each glossary items, it looks like this:

“Hello,

I have breadcrumbs enabled in glossary settings, and I have categories. But every term in the “wedding category”, on the glossary term page, there is no breadcrumb back to the “wedding category”.

Every term, regardless of category, links back to “glossary”.

Our wordpress tooltip developer have checked this great suggestion and we developed to solve the problem for the great user like this way:

How to Display Tooltip Category Link in Glossary Bread Crumbs?

1: Login wordpress tooltip plugin site and download tooltips pro plus which version >=22.7.8

2: Login dashboard of your wordpress site  and upload new version of wordpress tooltip plugin

3: Click tooltips menu item and then click glossary settings sub menu item, in the version wordpress tooltips pro plugin 22.7.8, it looks like this:

4: As you can see, at the bottom of the wordpress glossary settings panel, there are a new option “Display Tooltip Category Link in Glossary Bread Crumbs”, if you enable this option, then in the front-end, you will find the breadcrumbs looks like this Glossary link > glossary category link  > glossary term .

Please note, if the glossary did not be assigned in a tooltip category, then wordpress tooltip plugin will not try to display the glossary category in breadcrumbs.

If you do not want to display glossary category in glossary bread crumbs, then just select no in the option “Display Tooltip Category Link in Glossary Bread Crumbs” in glossary settings panel

Also for help users use function of glossary bread crumbs easier, we have moved another bread crumbs option at the bottom of the glossary settings panel too, so you can manage glossary bread crumbs in here quickly 🙂

I want to remove all the TT itemsin the navbar

On my glossary page URL, you can see that the tool tips are filling the nav bar, the user must page down to see the list of too tips with excerpts, I don’t want the tool tips at the top there.

How can I remove those, please?

Hi dear WordPress tooltip users, hope this message find you are doing well and have happy days with your family:) Yesterday we released wordpress tooltips pro plus 22.0.8 to support “How to custom margin for all letters in wordpress glossary navigation bar control the length of the navigation bar“, because medical blogger want the glossary navigation bar to be displayed in one line, and we said today we will add new feature to allow wordpress tooltip user to custom padding of each letters in wordpress glossary navigation bar to control the length of the navigation bar, and today we finished wordpress tooltips pro plus 22.1.8 and we realized this feature  for wordpress tooltip users   🙂

How to custom padding for all letters in wordpress glossary navigation bar control the length of the navigation bar?

By default, when you activate wordpress tooltip plugin, and insert a [glossary] shortcode to display a glossary page, it will looks like this:

Actually,  when you want to control control the length of the navigation bar, modifying PADDING of all letters in wordpress glossary navigation bar can achieve better results 🙂

1: login wordpress tooltip site to download wordpress tooltips pro plus 22.0.8, it is a zip file which have open source code of wordpress tooltip plugin

2: login your wordpress site as admin in backend,  then upload tooltip zip file and activate wordpress tooltip plugin in your wordpress plugin panel .

3: in wordpress dashboard, click tooltips menu and then click glossary sub-menu item, at the bottom of the glossary settings panel, you will find the new option “Custom padding for all letters in navigation bar”, it looks like this:

at the bottom of the glossary settings panel, you will find the “Custom padding for all letters in navigation bar” option, please just enter the padding, for example “1” or “0.001”….etc, you can modify padding from each letter in wordpress glossary navigation bar, and this will help you control the length of the wordpress glossary navigation bar
