How to Control Where Different Categories of Tooltips Are Published?
Hi, dear WordPress Tooltip plugin users, I hope this message finds you well and that you’re creating wonderful memories with your loved ones. A few days ago, we received a feedback from a wordpress tooltip user:
Is it possible to control where different categories of tooltips are published?
We need different tooltips to be visible for different pages. (Some pages are for children and some for grown ups). Can that be done with categories or something else?
Yes, in the WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus plugin, WordPress tooltip users can control where different categories of tooltips are published. We completed this functionality for another tooltip user with similar needs three years ago, in WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus 15.0.0. Three years ago, the tooltip user created a similar ticket:
I want to know if there’s a feature that allows me to enable tooltips only in specific post category.
Ex: the term ‘A’ in post category ‘X’ and ‘B’ in post category ‘Y’, etc. at the same time. I know there’s a feature to only show them in one post category, but that’s not what I’m looking for. I want to be able to pick and choose which post category each term will show up in.I check out the FAQ and the list of available features, but they don’t really answer my question. If you can let me know, that’ll be great!
Thank you
Then the WordPress tooltip support replied:
Thanks for the message
We are very happy to help you
At present, we have no options in the tooltips backend to support this feature directly. We would like to implement it for you, so could you please explain why you need this function? Additionally, could you provide us with a few use cases to help the WordPress tooltip developer understand exactly what you need? This will ensure that what we develop is aligned with your requirements.
In the current time, we have tooltip shortcodes, here is our detailed document and demo for wordpress tooltip shortcode
Thanks, have a blessed day with your family
Best Regards,

The wordpress tooltip user replied:
Hi,
I notice that you have added a feature to enable or disable tooltips for specific post.
But is it possible to choose the specific tooltips term to enable or disable? For example, in a single post, I only want to enable tooltips term “A” and “C”, but not “B” etc.? In other words, I want to know if the features I asked about last time have been made available?
Thank you
Then, our wordpress tooltip developer has completed this function for the wordpress tooltip user in wordpress tooltipps pro plus plugin version 15.0.0.
Yes, in wordpress tooltips pro plus plugin, wordpress tooltips user can control where different categories of tooltips are published, it is very easy :
1: Please login wordpress tooltip plugin site
2: Then click “download” menu item in the top menu bar to download the wordpress tooltip pro plus plugin which version, it will be a zip file for the wordpress plugin.
3: Login your wordpress site as admin, in wordpress dashboard, click plugins menu to deactivate and delete the old wordpress tooltip plugin
4: Then, in the WordPress ‘Plugins’ panel, please click the ‘Add New’ link at the top of the panel to install the WordPress Tooltip plugin, which you downloaded from tooltips.org. After that, upload the WordPress Tooltips plugin ZIP file that you downloaded from the WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus plugin site. Then activate the new wordpress tooltip plugin that you installed via plugins menu
5: Please click wordpress tooltips “Categories” menu to create two tooltips categories, it looks like this:
6: Now, create two WordPress tooltips in the tooltips editor. You may use the same title for both tooltips, such as WordPress Tooltip Term 1: ‘Example’, and WordPress Tooltip Term 2: ‘Example,’ but ensure that the content is different for each, then assign tooltip terms to different tooltip categories
7: In wordpress Gutenber editor, please create two wordpress post, for example, “tooltip term example in tooltip category test” and “tooltip term example in tooltip category wordpress”, it looks like this:
As you can see in the WordPress editor, you will find the metabox labeled ‘Disable specific tooltip categories?’ on the right side of the Gutenberg editor. Please enter tooltips category IDs in the input box, separated by commas (‘,’) to exclude specific WordPress tooltip categories on this page.
8: After publishing your WordPress posts, you will notice that when hovering over the same tooltip term ‘Example’ on different posts in the front-end, the WordPress tooltips display different content in the tooltip popup window. It looks like this:
The tooltip content of tooltip term “example” in tooltip category “test”:
The tooltip content of tooltip term “example” in tooltip category “wordpress”:
As you can see, this function fulfills your feature request:”We need different tooltips to be visible for different pages. (Some pages are for children and some for grown ups). Can that be done with categories or something else?”
Another method to realize your requirement is multiple-language tooltip that support polylang plugin, of course, if you want to create multilingual tooltips, and do not want to use polylang, you can create several tooltip terms for tooltip term ‘example’ in different languages, such as French, English, and German, and assign them to their respective language categories; then, in the standard WordPress post editor, if the post language is German, disable the ‘French’ and ‘English’ tooltip categories in the ‘Disable specific tooltip categories?’ metabox and click the update or publish button to save your changes, so that on the front end of the WordPress posts, the tooltips plugin will only display the French tooltip content for the ‘example’ tooltip term.
Hope this have a little help 🙂
