How to Add a Pretty Glossary in Your WordPress?

What is glossary?

A glossary will display a collection of keywords with their description in a table, with the alphabetical order, in general, users use it as a dictionary or lexicon, as a quick reference for complex technical subject or language or definitions, to help reader understand the meaning of specific terms.

How to Add a Pretty Glossary in Your WordPress?

With wordpress glossary plugin, you can create a pretty glossary in your wordpress wordpress with a few minutes, just a few clicks 🙂

1: If you didn’t installed wordpress tooltip, please login your account at wordpress glossary tooltip plugin site, if you have installed wordpress tooltip plugin, please jump to step #10 directly 🙂

2: Download wordpress glossary tooltip plugin at “My account” page

3: Login wordpress admin area

4: Click “Plugins” menu item

5: Deactivated old tooltips version

6: Delete the old wordpress tooltip plugin

7: In “Plugins” menu item, click add new at the top of the plugins panel

8: Upload the tooltips plugin zip file which you downloaded from wordpress glossary plugin site

9: Activate latest version of wordpress tooltip glossary plugin

10: Click “Tooltips” menu item

11: Add your glossary terms and description in glossary editor, you can add any video / audio / google map / qr codes… and so on in the glossary content 🙂

12: Create a new wordpress page or wordpress post, and insert the glossary shortcode like this:

13: In front end, you will see the glossary page, it looks like this:

14: If you want to select a pretty glossary template for your glossary, just click “glossary settings” sub menu

15: You will open the glossary settings panel, and you can select a pretty glossary template from glossary template selector, it looks like this:

16: Also, via the screenshot of glossary settings panel, you can see, actually you can custom a unique pretty glossary style for yourself, just via a few clicks 🙂

17: By default, the glossary language is English, but you can Custom Languages for Your WordPress Tooltips and WordPress Glossary

18: Also you can use glossary category filter to build glossary for multiple languages, for example, you can add English glossary terms in English category and add German glossary terms in German glossary category

19: Please note, if you want to build a wordpress glossary page via glossary shortcode, please do not select this page as glossary index page, please remember, the glossary index page will display all glossary items with links in the glossary index page, which will help users click glossary items which listed in glossary index page to open detailed content, and this glossary index page will improve your SEO ranks in google 🙂
