Hi, Dear  WordPress Tooltip plugin users, hope this message find you are doing well and having happy day with your family. We reported 2 days before,we realized an amazing user’s feature request of

Can use [tooltip_by_id tooltip_id='0000'] in the alt field of an image to automatically call the tooltip id every time that image is placed into the website?

But:

the tooltip content just include text, the image alt tooltip works, but if we insert video in the tooltip content, it cannot works in the image alt, because HTML conflicts, we still need a lot of work to do yet, we are not sure can we help admin display another image or video via the “alt” attr in the image, we will continue try to do this. I believe there are many problem in this function, I guess it is hard to over the limitation of HTML… so we cannot say we finished this work.

and we reported that we are try our best to find a solution to allow display another image and more kinds of multimedia content in tooltip  window via image ALT filed, when users hover an image. Today we are happy to report you, we realize it , after lost sleep of the whole night, our wordpress tooltip developer find a solution and realized this amazing feature request already, we understand this means, many wordpress photo gallery users can insert wordpress tooltip shortcodes in their ALT field, and when users mouse hover their images in image glossary, users will see pretty text / images / videos / audios / maps / QRcodes ….etc on a pop-up tooltip window, this will help wordpress photo gallery user extend their image functionality to let their images have sound and video and animation capabilities…etc. Please, we just tested in a few kinds of image and image gallery, we do not promise this function will works well for all photo gallery program.

1: download wordpress tooltips pro plus 20.9.8 via wordpress tooltip plugin download panel

2: install wordpress tooltips pro + on your wordpress site

3: click tooltips menu item and then click global settings sub menu item

4: in wordpress tooltips global settings panel, enable the option ” Enable Tooltips for Image”, it looks like this:

5: in wordpress tooltips global settings panel, in the option “Tooltips for Image setting”, select “setting tooltip for image running as support next-gen gallery”

6:  then in your wordpress editor,  you can insert tooltip shortcodes into image ALT field of images in your image like this:

As you can see, in the ALT field, just insert tooltip shortcode [tt_content_by_id tooltip_id='306'], and then in the front-end, you will see the result like this:

As you can see, when mouse hover the image, we displayed another image with formatted HTML content with links in the wordpress tooltip pop-up window 🙂

What the next work about ALT tooltip shortcode function ?

1: We will add this function to other wordpress image tooltip functions, include image alt tooltip,  image rel tooltip…etc

2: We will build a demo for the function with detailed document to help wordpress webmaster to use this function more easier

Okay, this is the first time we heard a user need to insert tooltip shortcode in ALT attribute, then we guess the benefit of insert tooltip shortcode in ALT attribute is, there are many image, when tooltip shortcode calling in the ALT field, when mouse hover the image, the content of tooltip shortcode  will displayed in the ALT section, and displayed in the image tooltip. Our wordpress tooltip developer said although it is craze, and it is not good for SEO, in HTML, the ALT filed is not to be used like this, but it is worth to do it for the user, that means we can extend the function of HTML ALT for wordpress tooltip users 🙂

Then we tried many times, after a hard-work and hard-walking,then we got it work like this way, and we replied the user:

We realized it for you, please allow I tell you more details:

This is the first time we heard this kind of requirement, we decide realize it for you. Then we tried to use find some hooks to filter alt, and then we tried a few APIs in wordpress, but not good, then we tried to use Gutenberg render_block hook to solve this problem, but we found there are many editor in the wordpress now, so we cannot only support Gutenberg, we tried many times and finally we found the solution

Yes, we insert the in the alt — which have a tooltip term “job” and the content “this is a good requirement” then we found it works! the tooltip term “job” displayed in the tooltip popup window, So great, we are happy, but…, the function of is display the tooltip term with underline, when user mouse hover the tooltip term “job”, we will display the tooltip content “this is a good requirement” in “job” tooltip popup window, so this will not works, it is not what you requested, you just hope when mouse hover an image, the tooltip content “this is a good requirement” will displayed in the image tooltip pop-up.

So we decide to write a new shortcode to realize your requirement. You can create a tooltip in tooltip editor, then insert in alt of the image, then when user mouse hover the image, the content of the tooltip will displayed in the image tooltip pop-up window, this works

But, we tested many times, the tooltip content just include text, the image alt tooltip works, but if we insert video in the tooltip content, it cannot works in the image alt, because HTML conflicts, we still need a lot of work to do yet, we are not sure can we help admin display another image or video via the “alt” attr in the image, we will continue try to do this. We will try to add this function in pro + version, but we will told users these limitations. If what you want is, when mouse hover an image, display images, videos, audio, map…etc in tooltip popup window, we have realized it in many years before, please just check our wordpress tooltip shortcode document

If you check our image tooltip demo , you can see wordpress tooltip plugin support use ALT attribute, REL attribute and title attribute as tooltip content aleady, and you can display video / image…etc in image tooltip popup window too

So I think this new shortcode and new function to insert the new shortcode in image ALT attr is not what you want, I feel sorry for this, we will try to improve it later, we just finished this a few minutes before and it is our 00:05 of the middle-night and we still have not chance to eat something yet , we will try to release a new version in next week:)

We just released WordPress Tooltips Pro plus 20.7.8 and WordPress Tooltips Pro 16.5.6, changes in this version:

1: Improved wordpress tooltips pro plus UI in back-end

2:We get a ticket said tooltips pro plus and tooltips pro did not star to work in his site, after checked his site we found the problem come from a theme settings, for avoid this kind of problem happened in other users’ sites, we released new version for new user of  wordpress tooltips pro + and wordpress tooltips pro user, once they installed and activated tooltips pro plugin, by default, we will enable jquery-migrate for these new users 🙂

Also we have enabled this function for wordpress tooltips free plugin 8.5.5 too, this kind of problem should not happen again in wordpress tooltip user’s site 🙂

Two days before, we reported we have supported “Move all inline javascript code of tooltip term in a static javascript file to speed up page load speed” in  wordpress tooltips pro plus 20.4.8,this new function will speed up wordpress page loading speed if you have Tons of tooltip terms in your site 🙂

Today we get a tooltip user’s feedback, in which he told our wordpress tooltip developer, he customized a few js effect in his wordpress tooltip terms, so want to adding a few customized javascript effects in tooltip js code, and then he found his code have problem so he need redo this work, but he cannot ensure does the file is original wordpress tooltip javascript static file or not, he need us to help him re-generate the original wordpress tooltip javascript static file again, so he can continue to redo his customized work.

We got a wordpress tooltip user’s ticket, in which he told us he have thousands tooltip terms in his tooltip site, and he said his site load slowly, we imported his tooltip term in our test site and we found our site load quickly yet,  we used site speed test tools to check our site, we found the report said our wordpress tooltip site got A scope of A,B,C,D,E,F, and load speed our tooltip site is very fast. We suggested the user install a cache plugin, at the same time, our wordpress tooltip developer said a few wordpress tooltip function is developed about 10 years before, it is time to upgrade these functions to improve the loading speed of the site  front-end. So we changed our code by this way:

At first, we added a new option “Save tooltip javascript code in static js file and load the static js file to speed up pages” in wordpress tooltip optional panel, it looks like this:

Then if yo select the option “Yes, use statics js file”, then wordpress tooltip plugin will scan all inline javascript codes and merge all these javascript codes into a global javascript file in one time.

And in the front-end, wordpress tooltip plugin will remove all inline javascript codes, just load one global tooltip javascript file in wordpress pages.

By this way, we speed up the page loading speed for wordpress tooltip users 🙂

Sometimes, a few cache plugin may broken some javascript codes in javascript file, in this case, you can just disable the option “Save tooltip javascript code in static js file and load the static js file to speed up pages”,  by default, we will not enable javascript static file automatically.
